Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s security was allegedly breached by two bikers in Bengaluru Sunday. The bikers followed the convoy for more than 300 metre. However, it has been reported that they were students and were unaware of the convoy.

According to a police officer attached to the Commercial Street police station, the incident took place when Shah was heading from Taj West End hotel to HAL airport around 11 pm after attending a core committee meeting of the BJP. As the convoy was heading from Safina Plaza, two bikers started tailing the convoy. Despite the intervention of the traffic police, the bikers followed the convoy. Security personnel then caught hold of the bikers and handed them over to the commercial street police.

“During questioning, we came to know that they were students and did not intentionally tail the convoy. They were afraid that the police would catch them… However, we have registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and have detained them,” a police officer said.
