Lithuania’s Katarsis places 16th in Eurovision Song Contest

Lithuania’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, the group Katarsis, finished in 16th place Saturday night with their song Tavo akys (Your Eyes). The competition was held in Basel, Switzerland, and was won by Austria’s JJ with the song Wasted Love.

Lithuania earned a total of 96 points. Of those, 34 came from national juries and 62 from the public televote. The Lithuanian act ranked 20th with juries but performed better with viewers.

Silvester Belt, who represented Lithuania in last year’s Eurovision with the song Luktelk, announced the jury votes during the live broadcast.

Israel took second place and Estonia came in third, while Latvia finished 13th overall.

Latvia was the top pick of the Lithuanian jury, which awarded it 12 points. Lithuania also gave 10 points to Italy, 8 to the Netherlands, 7 to Estonia, 6 to Portugal, 5 to Germany, 4 to Austria, 3 to Switzerland, 2 to Ukraine and 1 to Sweden.

Lithuanian televoters also favoured Latvia (12 points). Points were also awarded to Estonia (10), Germany (8), Ukraine (7), Italy (6), Austria (5), Sweden (4), Israel (3), Norway (2) and the Netherlands (1).

Lithuania received jury points from the Netherlands (4), San Marino (3), Latvia (7), Poland (6), Montenegro (3), the Czech Republic (5) and the United Kingdom (6).

Ukraine’s televoters gave Lithuania 12 points, while Latvians gave 10 points. Lithuania also received televote points from Ireland, the UK (8 each), Georgia, Poland (6 each), Luxembourg, Norway (4 each), Denmark (2), Estonia and Finland (1 each).

Lithuania first competed in Eurovision in 1994, when Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last with Lopšinė mylimai and received zero points. The country’s best result came in 2006, when LT United placed sixth with We Are the Winners.
