A driver who was criticised for their "entitled" parking has sparked a debate after hitting back at critics after brazenly leaving their vehicle parked across two spaces.

Seemingly in response to another note, the driver claimed they had done nothing wrong and left a note on their windscreen justifying their actions. In the message, the motorist claimed that, due to past damage that cost hundreds of pounds to fix, they should be allowed extra room to park.

According to the Mirror, Reddit users had little sympathy for the driver's reasoning when the exchange was shared online. The note, which was posted by an anonymous user read: "The reason I park in 2 spaces is because someone hit my car and drove off costing me £500 to get it repaired. So do not leave a note on my window. How would you like it done to you.!!!!!"

Evidently amused by the find, the post's author said: "Note on the dash did not disappoint." However, they were not the only one to have a similar reaction.

The exchange quickly amassed over 300 replies as users argued about who was right. Few appeared to take the driver's side as most commenters slammed their parking and mocked the note.

"If it's ok for one, it's ok for all, then the number of spaces is halved... Sure they wouldn't be happy about that," someone suggested. Another quipped: "No you don't understand, it's only ok if you've been crashed into in the past."

A third person thought: "I'd be especially inclined to leave a note. Putting it next to their note so it's obvious I knew…" Another added: "Maybe if you parked better, people wouldn't hit your car." A fifth said: "Idiot thinks one instance of bad luck now entitles them to two spaces."

Elsewhere, someone jibed: "I didn't really understand the note until I read the fifth exclamation mark. Three, even four wouldn't have been clear enough. The fifth one completes it."
